Elvera A. (nee Henning) Voigt, age 92, formerly of Kiel, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Christmas Day at Willowpark, New Holstein, WI.

She was born June 10, 1919, daughter of the late Otto & Norma (Reichwaldt) Henning.

Elvera was a 1937 graduate of Kiel High School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the former Milwaukee State Teachers College in 1941.

On February 8, 1947 she married Milton C. Voigt at Bethlehem United Church of Christ in the Town of Schleswig.

Milton preceded her in death on March 21, 1990.

Elvera continued her education receiving a Master of Science degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1968.

She taught Elementary grades in Rhinelander, Manitowoc, New Holstein and Kiel.

She became the Elementary Principal of Zielanis and Meeme schools, Kiel area school district in 1970 and after a total of 36 1/2 years in Elementary Education she retired in 1981.

Elvera and her husband, Milton, enjoyed traveling after their retirement.

Elvera was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel where she was the church organist for 48 years, from 1952-2000 and was also a member of the Womens Guild.

She was a past member of the Division on Christian Education of NEA and an accompanist for the Kiel Area Singing Seniors as well as a past member of the Kiel Library Board of Trustees, a member of the Kiel Area Study Club, Manitowoc County Retired Educators Association, Wisconsin State Education Association and Pi Lambda Theta-Professional Association in Education.

Survivors include her son, Dr. Richard (Kathy) Voigt, Pewaukee, WI, two sisters, Leora Thomas, Plymouth, Doris Mae (Merlin) Ninmer, Kiel, one brother, Everett (Helen) Henning, Kiel, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Loraine Boardman and an infant sister, Evelyn.

Funeral services for Elvera will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 31, 2011 at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel with Rev. Judine Duerwaechter & Rev. Kim Henning officiating.

Burial will take place in the Kiel City Cemetery.
