William Lance (Boyd) McGinnis
Mr. William Lance (Boyd) McGinnis, 89, Versailles, died Thursday, Aug. 11, at St.Mary's Hospital in Blue Springs, following a six-week illness.
He was born July 25, 1894 in Morgan County, a son of the late William and Sally Sidebottom McGinnis.
He was married on June 12, 1917 to Arizona Bias who preceded him in death on Nov. 22, 1976.
He served as sexton, and caretaker of the Versailles Cemetery Association for 32 years. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Versailles, where he had served as a deacon.
He is survived by two daughters, LaVerne Wood, Odessa and Mrs. Gussie Ferguson, Independence; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, man other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three daughter, Helen, Arvera and Pauline; one son, Greg, three sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 14 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Mabry, officiating. Merrill Womach sang "Beyond The Sunset", "How Great Thou Art," and "Precious Memories." Interment was in the Versailles Cemetery. Casket bearers were Kerby Ferguson, Chris Ferguson, Lanny Ferguson, Everett Bake, Greg McGinnis, and Ken Musgrave.
