Ernest is the son of Jessie May Agee & husband Ernest Cooley.

Jessie died soon after his birth, the Father took off, leaving baby Ernest with his Grandparents, Joseph Hickle Agee & Carrie Texas Hollingsworth Agee ~who raised him.

"Dr. E. C. Agee, LaFollette Native, Dies In Arkansas"

Dr. Ernest Cooley Agee, physician and surgeon, who was a graduate of University of Tennessee and a native of LaFollette, died suddenly at 7 a.m. Friday at Marked Tree, Arkansas, where he had been practicing for two years. He was 41.

After graduating with high honors from UT in Knoxville, Dr. Agee received his degree from the UT Medical College in Memphis. He served his internship at St. Joseph's Hospital in Memphis. He also took special work there on general practice of medicine.

He was a son of the late Mrs. Jessie Agee and George E. Cooley of Greensboro, N.C. His mother died when he was born. He was reared by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph H. Agee.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Margaret Agee, who was the former Miss Margaret Parker of Erwin, Tenn,; son, Bill Agee; grandmother, Mrs. Joseph H. Agee, LaFollette; an aunt, Mrs. Dwight A. Wayland, 601 Forest Hill Blvd., Knoxville; two uncles, John H. Agee and Joseph M. Agee, both of LaFollette.

Funeral services Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at LaFollette Methodist Church, the Rev. Berwanger officiating. Burial in Jacksboro Cemetery.
