James Douglas Carden, age 69, of Greenville, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2011 at the Woodland Hills Nursing Center in Marble Hill, MO. He was born December 12, 1942 at Bear Creek, Alabama and had lived in Wayne County for many years. He was a graduate of Gideon High School and retired from the US Forest Service. He was a veteran, serving for over 27 years in the US Army and National Guard. He was deployed during Desert Storm and retired in 1991 as a Chief Warrant Officer. He was a past member of the Masonic Lodge, the Gideons International, and attended the Kime General Baptist Church near Greenville.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Nora (Davis) Carden, 1 son, Carl Carden, 1 sister, Oma Brown, and 1 grandson, Scotty Carden.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Sandi Shope, of Greenville, Susan Tibbs and her husband Jerry, of Silva, Amanda Allen, of Greenville, 3 sisters, Grace Wilson and Sue Taylor, both of Memphis, TN., Ann Riebold and her husband Wayne, of Hillsboro, MO, 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Visitation will be held at 6:00 PM Monday at the Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel in Greenville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Kenny Burchard officiating. Interment with full military honors will be at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Greenville.

Memorials have been suggested to the Alzheimers Association.
