Daniel James "Jim" Benjamin, 73, of Montgomery, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 14, 2004. He was born September 23, 1930 in Aurora.
    Jim graduated from Marmion Military Academy in 1948 and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Mildred R. Hauser on September 25, 1954. He was employed by 3M for 31 years before retiring. Jim was a lifelong member of O.L.G.C. Church, was active in Bingo, and served in many capacities over the years.
    Jim is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mildred; his four children, Beth (Rick) Plachetka, Renee Benjamin, Daniel (Keri) Benjamin and Lisa (Steve) Adam; 11 grandchildren, Pam, Kristin and Mike Plachetka, Tim Smithey, April and Adam Benjamin, Jason (Amy), Hilary, Andrea, Rachel and Malory Adam; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Jordan Adam; his sister, Audrey (Al) Walan; numerous nieces and nephews; his aunt, Gayle Hunt; and many cousins.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, John T. and Agnes (Johannessen) Benjamin; and by his brother, John T. "Jack" Benjamin.
    Funeral services will be held Friday, January 16, 2004 from The Daleiden Lake Street Mortuary at 11:30 a.m. to Our Lady of Good Counsel Church at 12:00 p.m. Fr. Dean E. Russell will officiate with interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 15 from 4-8 p.m. with a Liturgical Wake Service at 5:30 p.m. at The Daleiden Lake Street Mortuary, 220 N.
