Funeral service for Mrs. Jeanette Alexander Howell, 87, of Ruston, LA formerly of Monroe, LA, will be held at 1:00PM Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at First United Methodist Church in Monroe with Dr. Larry Stafford officiating.

Graveside service will be held at 3:30PM Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Quitman, LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe.

Mrs. Howell was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Famous Alexander and her husband of 15 years Dan Howell, her parents, Earl and Mae Barker, and four sisters, Eloise Savanna, Irene Willis, Pauline Willis and Natalie Fuller.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Atkins and husband Jay; three Sons, Russell Alexander and wife Linda, Ron Alexander and wife Wendy, and Rev. Kem Alexander and wife Mary Linda; sister, Margie Williams; granddaughters, Katie Bennett and husband Amos and Ashley Alexander; grandsons, Bruce Alexander, Jeremy Alexander and wife Sarah, Joseph Cordaro and wife Jill, Christopher Cordaro II, and wife Jessie, and Nicholas Cordaro; and great grandchildren, Jared Meaux, Audrey Alexander, Jack Alexander and Ava Cordaro.

Jeanette was born on May 19, 1924 in Jackson Parish Louisiana.

She was a long time resident of Ruston, LA where she and husband Famous worked and reared their family. For over 25 years she was the owner and operator of KJ's Beauty Salon in Ruston. She remarried in 1991 and moved to Monroe, LA with her husband Dan Howell. She became a member of the First United Methodist Church in Monroe where her son Kem serves as Music Minister. She returned to Ruston in 2006 where she lived until her death.

Jeanette was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a very generous person to all people and she loved life. She fought the battle of cancer with strength, bravery, dignity, and faith. She is an inspiration to her family and will be deeply missed.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Alexander, Joseph Cordaro, Christopher Cordaro II, Nicholas Cordaro, Darrell Robinson, and Paige Colvin.
