Obituary of Vina R. (Dupree) Schoenick
(February 24, 1947 - January 1, 2012)

Vancleave, MS ~ Vina Schoenick was received into the arms of her Lord and savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 01, 2012 . By her own profession, Vina was a firm believer in eternal salvation of the soul and had made a profession of her faith and was scripturally baptized at Antioch Baptist Church in Vancleave, MS.

Vina was a friend to many, a loving wife of 35 years to Richard (Dick) Schoenick, a loving and caring mother to Jeremy Schoenick and a proud grandmother to Elijah Schoenick, the light of her life.

Vina had a happy and full life; at one time she was involved in the Jackson County Adult Literacy Program, Vancleave PTO for 12 years, Vancleave Dixie Youth Baseball, Vancleave Hoopsters Club, Volunteer at the Ocean Springs Hospital, Epsilon Sigma Alpha Service Sorority in Ocean Springs, church pianist and Sunday School teacher at Antioch Church and many more worthy causes. Vina never met a stranger and could give the oral history of almost every family in the Fort Bayou Community of Jackson County. She worked as secretary of the Vancleave Schools before giving up her work to be what she always wanted to be - a wife, mother and homemaker.

Vina is preceded in death by her father, Howard Dupree, mother Alma Dupree, a brother, Gary Dupree and her sister Marylin (Dupree) Andries. Those left to fondly remember and cherish her are her husband of 35 years, Richard (Dick) Schoenick, one son, Jeremy Schoenick, a grandson, Elijah Schoenick, brothers Jim Dupree (Gloria) of Diamondhead, Jeff Dupree of Vancleave and her special sister Cathy (Darren) Milazzo of Vancleave, as well as 26 nieces and nephews who affectionately called her Aunt Winy and many more cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, January 3, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the funeral home with interment following in Antioch Cemetery in Vancleave.

A special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Ocean Springs Hospital, SAADS Healthcare and Hospice, Ms. Faye, Ms. Lisa, Ms. Toshua and Ms. Pam, and her entire church family at Antioch Faithway Landmark Missionary Baptist Church who made life easier on her and the family through their thoughtful deeds and prayer. A special thanks to the Scarlett O'Hatters of the Red Hat Society in Vancleave.

Vina, "Sweetie", "Aunt Winy", "Nanny", "Friend", you will be missed by all but through belief in Jesus Christ, we who are saved will see you again in heaven. Praise God from whom all blessings flow and you were a blessing to many, many people.
