TALMAGE - Marilyn A. Witler, 77, Talmage, died April 17, 2000 at Ambassador Care Center in Nebraska City. She was born Oct 29, 1922, the daughter of Arnold and Lynna S. (Damme) Ritter, Talmage. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Talmage by Rev. Henry Stave on Jan. 14, 1923. She was confirmed on May 16, 1937 by Rev. Siegfried Hafermann. She taught in rural schools near Talmage and Syracuse before moving to Colorado Springs, Colo. She worked as a film technician in a radiology department.

She was married to LaVern Wittler at her parents home on Nov. 26, 1947. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Talmage, American Legion Auxiliary, 8 & 40; United Commercial Travelers, and the Tri-County Homemakers Extension Club. Survivors include her husband; son, Don and Kathy, Talmage; daughter, Pam and Tom Stichweh, Kansas City; three grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Merlyn Arends, Lincoln, Arlene Fleischer, Columbus, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Fletcher in infancy. Services were held Thursday, April 20, 2000 at 2 pm at Zion United Church of Christ, Talmage, with Pastor Gwen Hurst-Anderson officiating. Pallbearers were Will Wittler, Michael Stichweh, Blane and Shane Anthony, Dick and Dave Arends. Organist was Glenis Hopp. Burial in St. Paul Cemetery, Talmage. Casey-Witzenburg Mortuary, Talmage, was in charge of arrangements.
