OBITUARY: IRENEUS BROWER/LASALLE COUNTY/1889
The genial Ireneus Brower, of Dayton township, died on last Thursday evening. He was born in New York State in May, 1816. He came to this county from Ohio in 1845; pre-empted 160 acres of land; in 1846 he began his home, starting in life with three horses. Here his children were born and raised, Frances, who became the wife of A. E. Beach, Esq.; Franklin, once mayor & city attorney of Ottawa, and Henry, a farmer in Nebraska.
Ireneus's first wife, Mary Ann (Green), died in 1868, and in 1869 he married again to a Miss Mary Sprague, who was the mother of three children. Mr. Brower was a good farmer, a genial, whole-souled friend and neighbor, whose death is keenly regretted by everyone who ever had the pleasure of his acquaintance.
