Vera Ruth McGinnis, 50, Versailles, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 1989, at her home. She was born on Dec. 3, 1938 at Gravois Mills, daughter of the late Tiblow and Grace Gunn Bland.

On March 30, 1957, she married Kenneth D. McGinnis, who survives at the home, at Versailles.

Mrs. McGinnis had been employed at the Kansas City Bifocal Co. in Versailles for 10 years.

In addition to her husband, Kenneth, she leaves one son, Marty McGinnis, Versailles; one daughter, Pamela Hancock, Versailles; three brothers, Curtis Bland; Blue Springs, T.W. Bland, Kansas City and Roger Bland, Versailles; six sisters, Fern McGinnis, Versailles, Brooks Surritte, Caulfield, Nancy Jacobs, and Nellie Tucker, both of Kansas City, Alma Land, Jefferson City, and Phyllis Shoemaker, Gravois Mills; two grandsons, and two granddaughters. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Louise Bland.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan 24 in the Scrivner Chapel, with the Rev. Allen Finley officiating. Pallbearers were T. McGinnis, Phil McGinnis, Randy McGinnis, Dennis McGinnis, George Edgar and David Edgar. Merril Womack sand "Beautiful Garden of Prayer" and "Precious Memories." Interment was in the West Lawn Addition of the Versailles Cemetery.
