Perry W. Greene, Jr., M.D., age 80, passed away on April 4, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Senator Perry, Sr. and Bernadine Greene and sister, Eileen Boggiano. Perry is survived by Janet, his wife of 55 years; his children, Perry III and Ardis, Tammy and Howie, Daniel and Lori, Brian and Lori; eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Perry proudly served as Captain, U.S. Army at Fort Bragg Army Hospital, North Carolina, and Landstuhl Army Medical Center, Germany. He was a graduate of Catholic Central High School, he attended Marquette University and graduated from Wayne University College of Medicine with distinction. Perry practiced Orthopaedic Surgery for 47 years. He was affiliated with Blodgett and Saint Mary's Hospitals, an Associate Professor MSU School of Medicine, a founding delegate of the American Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Society, past President of the Kent County Medical Society and Michigan Orthopaedic Society, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a member of Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 8, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, April 9, at 11:00 a.m. at St Stephen Catholic Church, 750 Gladstone, S.E. in East Grand Rapids with Father Paul Milanowski officiating. The family will also receive visitors at the church beginning at 10 a.m. preceding the service.
