Jessie Joan (Jo) Waggie, the daughter of Lee and Mimi (Nissen) Campbell, was born April 6, 1926 in Hopkinton, Iowa. Almost all of her life was spent in Spencer, Iowa, where she attended Spencer schools, graduating from Spencer High School in 1944. She continued her education at ILCC and received her LPN.

Joan married Gerald Waggie on March 25, 1944 in Jackson, MN. Following their marriage, they continued to live in Spencer, where she worked as a staff nurse at St. Luke Lutheran Home for 25 years, until her retirement in 2003. She enjoyed collecting antiques throughout the years and was a avid fan of Iowa Hawkeye and Minnesota Viking football.

Joan passed away at the Good Samaritan Center in Indianola, Iowa on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald in 1989; her daughter-in-law, Mary Waggie, her sister, Louise Eggers and brother, Don Campbell.

Left to cherish her memory are two sons: David and his wife, Bonnie of New Ulm, MN and Kirk Waggie of Indianola, IA; one daughter, Ann Breidinger of Juno, Alaska; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one brother, Knox Campbell and his wife, June of Spencer, IA; other relatives and friends.
