She was a 1941 graduate of Amesbury High School and went on to study nursing, her lifelong passion, graduating from Massachusetts Memorial Hospital as class president. Allie proudly served her country in World War II as a member of the Army Nurse Corps as a First Lieutenant. She was stationed in the Pacific with duty at Leyte, Philippine Islands as well as Yokohama, Japan. She was honorably discharged in 1946.
Allie also worked as registered nurse for Dr. Charles B. Bailey in Hampton Falls, NH and later in life was employed by the Eventide Home for women in Exeter, NH. She also volunteered at the Exeter Hospital in the mammography unit and was a member of the First Congregational Church of Hampton.
She is survived by her two daughters, and their husbands, Beverly and Ed Batchelder of Newton, NH, and Barbara and Mark Brogan of Loudon, NH. She adored her grandchildren, Jessica Derosier of Epping, NH, Nathan Batchelder of Epping, NH, Sarah Batchelder of Newton, NH, Andrea Gorman of Millbury, MA, and Mark Brogan of Vancouver, WA; in addition she had 10 great grandchildren that she so enjoyed.
She was predeceased by her husband John Cram; her brother Forrest T. Reynolds Jr.; and two sisters, Pearle Snow and Ruth Palmer. Devoted to her family, Allie was the happiest when everyone gathered together for celebrations.
There will be no visiting hours. A Memorial Service of celebration will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 2 PM at the First Congregational Church of Hampton, located on 127 Winnacunnet Rd., Hampton, NH. Burial will be in the Westview Cemetery in Hampton Falls, NH. Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, NH is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Beacon Hospice, 10 Hampton Rd., Exeter, NH, 03833.
