OBITUARY

John C. Artis was born at Deenbar,(?) Penn., May 10, 1853 and departed this life at his home near Emporia, KS Oct. 6, 1932.
He was the oldest child born to Joseph and Ann Artis. At the age of six, he with his parents moved to Illinois, where he grew to manhood. He then moved to Iowa, and later came to Kansas where he spent the remainder of his life.
He leaves to mourn his loss, one brother, Jake Artis, of Deer Creek, Oklahoma and Mrs. Jane Strickler, of Centerville, Iowa. Also seven nieces and seven nephews.
Mrs. Etta Schureman who passed away August 1st was his youngest sister.
