Ella Elizabeth Harris, 77, of Fords Branch, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born in Pike County, Jan. 24, 1934, the daughter of the late Grady Adkins and Minty Brown Adkins.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Harris; one son, Roger Dale Harris; seven brothers, Landford Adkins, Charlie Adkins, Richard Adkins, Grover Adkins, Warren G. Adkins, Hiram Adkins and Franklin Grady Adkins; and five sisters, Ruby Ann Conn, Margaret K. Adkins, Ona Mae Bartley, Fayetta May and Madge Irene Mullins.
She is survived by one brother, Reaford Adkins of Dorton; two sisters, Naomi Ruth Bartley of Fords Branch and Minnie V. Raines of Breaks, Va.; two special nephews, Ellis "Bub" Coleman and Grady Keith Coleman; Katie Coleman, Alisa Brooke Coleman and Kristin Beth Coleman, who were like granddaughters; and Andrew Wayne Coleman, who was like a grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, in the Elizabeth Old Regular Baptist Church with Glenn Hall, Teddy Honaker, Roger Hicks and Arnold Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Warren G. Adkins Cemetery, Fords Branch. Arrangements are under direction of Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Visitation is at the church after 6 p.m. Wednesday, with special services at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
