Dennis was born at home in Toler Hollow,
Coal Mtn. Wyoming Co. WV
Dennis was an outgoing person,
had a wonderful sense of humor,
he was a joy to be around,
he always left you laughing
or smiling.
He is greatly missed and
often thought of.
Dennis served in the Army.

Miner dies in Wyoming roof fall
COAL MOUNTAIN —
A miner was killed Monday
when the roof collapsed In a
Wyoming county mine near
here, crushing him, a state
Department of Energy
spokeswoman said.
Dennis Hatfield, 36, of
Jumping Branch in Summers
County, died of "crushing
injuries" he suffered in
the roof fall, which occurred
at 1:10 p.m. Monday, said
DOE spokeswoman Beth Loflln.
Hatfield's body was recovered
shortly after 8 p.m.
from the S.& M. Coal Co.'s
No. 6 mine at Esther Hollow,
Loflin said.
A hearing on the accident
is scheduled Tuesday at the
Coal Mountain mine, Loflin
said.
Hatfield is the 11th miner
to be killed in West Virginia
coal mines this year, she
said.
Don Nestor, safety director
for S.& M., said the No. 6
mine will be "dug out" in
about a week, meaning it
probably will be shut down
soon. It has 18 employees.
