Five occupants were killed instantly when a car being driven by Mr. Christian Lochbaum Sr. crashed into a truck hauling lumber. The truck was stopped on the highway and its tire was being changed. The accident occurred west bound on Airline Highway eight miles above Kenner in Saint Charles Parish. The party of nine was enroute to Destrehan for an indoor baseball game between Kenner and the St. Rose teams. The accident occurred on Thursday night August 10, 1933, just about dusk or around 7:30PM. Of the nine occupants in the car, five were killed instantly, they were; Mrs. Myrtle Maloney (36, Find a Grave memorial # 143470406), Mrs. Gladys Schneckenberger (34, Find a Grave memorial # 180240871), Mrs. Chris Lochbaum (46, wife of the driver, Find a Grave memorial # 82941062), Mr. Julia Part (51, Find a Grave memorial # 180240789), Clancy Maloney (8, Find a Grave memorial # 143470405). The driver, Chris Lochbaum Sr. (53, Find a Grave memorial # 82941052) died of his injuries the next day August 11 at 7PM, and Frank Maloney Jr. (9, 143470407) died from his injuries on August 29th. The two occupants who survived the accident and recovered were; Mrs. Anastasia Clancy Alexander (39, Find a Grave memorial # 143470378) who was critically injured, but recovered and Margaret Maloney (12) who received only minor injuries. Myrtle Maloney, Gladys Schneckenberger, and Anastasia Alexander were sisters. Their brother was then Sheriff of Jefferson Parish, Frank J. Clancy.

beloved husband of Mary Christina, father of Chris Jr., Emile, Josephine and Marie Lochbaum and Mrs. Arthur E. Ruiz; Son of Elizabeth Buckett and the late Matthew Lochbaum; brother of Frank and Frances Lochbaum and Mrs. Alice Ledoux; son-in-law of the late Josephine Mazzola and Joseph Christina, aged 53 years, a native of Kenner.
Relatives and friends, also the officers and members of the Kenner Camp No 390, W. O. W., are invited to attend the funeral which will take place on Sunday, August 13, 1933, at 9:15 o'clock a. m., from the funeral home of Lamana-Panno-Fallo, Inc., 625 N. Rampart street, near Municipal Auditorium. Requiem mass at St. Mary's Italian Church.
