He was a 1941 graduate of Post High School.After high school, he enrolled in John Tarleton Agriculture College, now Tarleton State University. From there he joined the 99th Infantry Division. This unit saw action in the Battle of the Bulge, the Rhur Pocket, Cologne Plain, and the Bridge at Remahen. Guy received two bronze stars and a battlefield commission. He was discharged in April 1946.
After being discharged, he enrolled at East Texas State University on a football scholarship and with the GI Bill.
He graduated in January 1948 with both B.S. and M.S. degrees. He earned a Doctor of Education degree from North Texas State University in May 1977. Guy worked as coach and teacher in Laredo, Phillips, Canyon, and Gladewater Independent School Districts, retiring as Assistant Superintendent of Instruction at Irving Independent School District in 1984.
After retiring, he and Margaret returned to Gladewater to live. He served four different years as Chairman of the Administrative Board for First Methodist Church, and as Chairperson of the Building Committee for the Christian Life Center. He also served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Lay Leader, Lay Delegate, and virtually every church committee. He was a teacher of the 20th Century Class for many years.
