Ed Cook of the Greasy Creek Landing received a telegram Tuesday from the war department stating that his son, Sgt. Marcus Wendell Cook, had been Killed in action in Italy on May 25th.
It will be remembered that Sgt. Cook was wounded in action in Africa several months ago and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Sgt. Cook has two brothers in military service, Charles Ruben Cook, who is in the navy aboard ship and Cyrus Cook who is serving in the army.
The father, brothers and sisters of Sgt. Cook have the very deep sympathy of their many friends.
