Denise Ree Queen, 72, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at her residence after an extended illness. She was born Nov. 2, 1939, in Midnight to Henry P. and Elaine Bramlett Allen. She graduated from Louise High School in Louise. She married Robert E. "Bob" Queen on Nov. 14, 1958, and they made their home in the Tupelo where they worked, raised their family and attended church. They were married for 46 years before his death in 2004. Mrs. Queen was known as "The Shipley Queen," having worked for Shipley Do-nuts for many years until she became ill. She was a devoted wife, loving sister, mother and grandmother. She was an active member of Verona Church of Christ.

A life celebration service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Wayne Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to service time Friday.

Survivors include her daughters, Brenda Oliver (Billy), Karen Brock and Beverly Wilbanks (Steve), all of Tupelo; her brother, Billy Wayne Allen (Mary) of Reno, Nev.; her sisters, Eva M. Johnson of Tupelo, Annie Nell Cortez (Romie) of Salinas, Calif., Dannie L. Raney (Sam) of Amory and Elaine Kelly (Mike) of Savannah, Ga.; five grandchildren, Kayla Furr (Thomas), Curtis Brock (Laken), Brittany Stafford (Will), Chris Oliver and Drew Wilbanks; great-grandchildren, John Marlin Morgan and Easton Brock; from the heart sister, JoAnn Brock of Verona; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; five brothers, Henry P. Allen Jr., Jefferson V. Allen, James V. Allen, William M. Allen and Roy Lane; and one great-grandchild, Charlie Morgan.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Chris Oliver, Curtis Brock, Drew Wilbanks, Thomas Furr, Will Stafford and David Nelson.

Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Verona Church of Christ, employees of Shipley Do-nuts and all the doctors who cared for Mrs. Queen.
