Kathleen M. Miller (nee Carmody), of Chesterton, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2006 at her residence in Chesterton. She was 64.
She was born May 3, 1942 in Gary, the daughter of Dr. Raymond Carmody Sr. of Valparaiso and Marianne Graves Carmody, who preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 2005.
She is also survived by two sons, Kirk (Susan) Parker of Arizona and Bill McCorkel of Colorado; a daughter, Kelly Parker of Chesterton; four sisters, Dr. Mary Ann Carter, Maureen (James) Lynch, Nancy Carmody and Theresa Carmody, all of Valparaiso; a brother, Dr. Raymond Carmody Jr. of Tucson, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Maggie Riggs and Nicholas and Matthew Parker.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Timothy Carmody.
Kathleen was a school teacher for Jones Elementary Portage School System for 33 years. She was deeply loved and appreciated by her family, friends and many former students and co-workers. She was a 1960 Chesterton High School graduate and lived in Chesterton her entire life. She graduated from Valparaiso University and received her master's degree in education from Purdue University. She enjoyed writing poetry, camping, hiking and other outdoor activities.
A memorial mass, Fr. James Meade officiating, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Rd., Chesterton. Interment will be private.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Thursday until time of mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
