HAROLD ROY BARNETT, 85, passed away on Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at Bethlehem Woods Nursing Home. Born Sept. 16, 1926, in Whitley County, he was the son of the late Ralph and Stella (Lein-inger) Barnett. He was a member of the Merchant Marines during World War II and worked at Dana Corporation for 36 years, retiring in 1983. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary; sons, Kenneth (Cathy) Barnett of Fort Wayne and David (Beth) Barnett of St. Petersburg, Fla.; sisters, Evelyn Dennis and Betty Blackburn, both of Fort Wayne; son-in-law, Steve Esterline; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Georgia Esterline; brothers, Ralph and Roger Barnett; and sister, Eloise Cole. Memorial service is 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, with calling one hour prior. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethlehem Woods Nursing Home or Parkview Hospice. www.covingtonmemorial.com
