CAME HERE AS A GIRL; Born in Ireland, Mrs. Thos. Lahey was Early Tannery Settler
Mrs. Barbara Lahey, an old settler of this vicinity, came to the end of her long life when she passed away Monday morning, at the home of her daughter on the Eastside, Mrs. Steve Elliot. Deceased was close to her 91st year when she would have attained next April. She was born in Ireland and came to this country when a young woman settling here where she was soon afterwards married to John Lahay (sic) and resided on a farm for many years, a few miles north of here in the tannery section. They later lived in Racine a few years and since her husband's death about 20 years ago, Mrs. Lahay has resided with her daughter Mrs. Steve Elliott and family. Deceased is also survived by three sons, Ed of this city, Thomas, of Nome, Alaska and James of Los Angeles, California and one daughter, Mrs. Isaac Williamson of Seattle and a host of grand children and great grandchildren. The funeral took place this morning from St. Luke's Church. Published in The Reporter, Two Rivers, Wisc., Thursday, Feb. 7, 1918.

Barbara was born in Ireland on 17 April 1827 (or 1829).
Barbara came to the US when she was a young woman. John and Barbara resided in Massachusetts, by December 1854, and removed to Wisconsin, by 1856. Two of their children were born at Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, about 1860. They removed to Two Rivers, Manitowoc Co., Wisconsin, to farm, where they were enumerated by the 1870 US census. John and Barbara were enumerated then with 8 children. John later worked at Wisconsin Leather Co. tannery as of November 1878 [Obit. for their son John Wm., Manitowoc Co. Chronicle, 19 Nov. 1878].
John and Barbara later moved to Racine for a few years but returned to Two Rivers [Her Obituary]. Barbara and her family were enumerated at Two Rivers in the 1880 US Census and the 1885 State Census.
Barbara was enumerated at Two Rivers with sons James and Edward and nieces Katie, Blanche, and nephew Walter, in the 1900 US Census. Barbara was enumerated at Two Rivers with her niece Kate LAHEY in the 1905 State Census.
