Irene C. Harvey, 101, formerly of Rutan, died at 9 a.m. Monday, June 8, 1987, in the Curry Memorial Home, Waynesburg.

She was born July 28, 1885, in Ninevah, a daughter of John B. and Caroline Loughman Carter, and lived all her life in Greene County.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waynesburg, and a former member of the South Ten Mile Baptist Church.

She was a graduate of Slippery Rock State Normal, Class of 1906. She taught school in Ellsworth and Morris Township, Greene County.

Her husband, Samuel H. Harvey Sr. whom she married October 20, 1908, died June 25, 1931.

She is survived by four daughters, Margaret H. Stewart of Graysville R.D. 1, Josephine H. Kinney of West Alexander, Jeanette H. Iams and Kathryn C. Harvey, both of Bradenton,Fla., a son, Samuel H. Harvey Jr. of Waynesburg, Cameron Star Route,14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; and a sister Ruby C. Jennings of Ninevah.

Deceased are a daughter, Evelyn H. McDonald; four sisters, Mabel Lewis, Madge Funk, Olive Spriggs and Jessie Husk; a sister who died in infancy; and a brother, John B. Carter Jr.
