Bertha Masingo Head Goad, age 97, of LaFollette passed away Friday, January 6, 2012 at LaFollette Court Assisted Living. She was born April 18, 1914 in Speedwell, community of Claiborne County, to the late Charles Elmer and Lou Isabell Masingo – the second oldest of nine siblings. She was a 1937 graduate of Lincoln Memorial University and taught home economics and science for more than 30 years, retiring from LaFollette High School in 1976. She was a member of LaFollette First Baptist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma teachers' sorority and the order of the Eastern Star. Preceded in death by husbands, Charles McKinley Head and Joseph Henry Goad.

Survivors Daughter & Son-in-law: Wanda & JV Russell, Knoxville Grandson Robert Richart, Orangeburg, S.C. Great-grandson: Colin Richart, Oak Ridge Sister Bonnie Page, Lake City Stepson & wife: Joseph Henry Goad, Jr. & Sherry, Winchester, Va. Many nieces and nephews and extended family.

The family would like to thank the staff of LaFollette Court Assisted Living facility for their loving care and support of Bertha during her last few years.
