He was born Sept. 23, 1915, to Louis and Mary Delak in Biwabik. He grew up and attended school in Biwabik, marrying Doris Biondich in 1937. In 1967, he married Thelma Todd from Winnipeg, Canada. He was chief security officer at Pickens Mather from 1940 to 1960. He owned and operated a resort in Canada from 1967 to 1987. He then moved to Alaska, where he worked on the Alaska Pipeline. He retired to Paradise Lake in 1987.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy (Mike) Durkos, of Murphy Lake; a brother, Robert Delak, of Side Lake; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; a son, Richard; a brother, Frank; and a sister, Mayme.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Biwabik.
