Mrs. Belle Taylor Allen, wife of Austin Allen, widely known and prominent architect of Joplin, whose death occurred here more than three years ago, died suddenly Thursday night at Los Angeles, according to a telegram received here yesterday by her mother, Mrs. John H. Taylor, No. 315 Moffet avenue. The cause of her death was not given by relatives here believe that she died from heart disease.
Mrs. Allen was 34 years old. She was born and reared in Joplin and is known here by many. Two years ago she went to California where she has resided with an uncle and aunt. She leaves three children, Austin, jr. 13 years old; Andrew Taylor Allen, 10 years old; and John Whitby Allen 7 years old.
Her husband drew plans for erecting many of Joplin's largest buildings. He was in charge of building the Elks Club, the Newman Mercantile Company's store building, the Olivia apartment house and the Catholic Church.
In addition to her mother there, Mrs. Allen is survived by two brothers, Morgan Taylor and Wilkins Taylor, both of Joplin. The latter left last night for Los Angeles to take charge of the body and probably to return it here for burial.
