Orangeburg - Sloan Warren Ashley, 63, of 1217 Riverside Drive, Orangeburg, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 16 in Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Rick Bennett officiating. Pallbearers will be Dr. Thomas Gue, Mike Pooser, Wilbur Ashley, Pinky Christopher, Steven Hartzog and Lewis Lanier. Mr. Ashley was born Dec. 25, 1939, in Anderson County, a son of the late R. T. Ashley and Jeannette Gable Ashley. He was a 1958 graduate of Orangeburg High School and three and a half years at Wofford College. He was a retired contractor. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. David (Laura) Ashley McNeil of Nashville, Tenn.; one brother, Thomas Edward Ashley of Orangeburg; two nieces, Randi Ashley and Katherine Ashley, both of Orangeburg. Friends may call at the residence and at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. in Orangeburg. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia SC 29210-1790, or to Alzheimer's Association Mid-State S.C.
