Mrs. Susan E. S. Holmes
Mrs. Susan Elva (Snyder) Holmes, oldest resident of the town of Westford, died at her home here Friday afternoon form complications of old age.
Funeral services were held at St. Timothy's Episcopal church of which she was a member Tuesday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Leonard F. Steele, Saratoga springs officiated with burial in the Westford Cemetery.
She was born in Westford, january 2, 1851, a daughter of John and Mahala (Bates) Snyder and was married to Revillo Holmes, September 17, 1871. He died in 1929. She had been an invalid for fifteen years and confines to her bed since Christmas.
Surviving are two sons, William R. Holmes, Westford and Frederick P. Holmes, utica; two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Starkweather, Worcester and mrs. Charlotte Smith, Cooperstown; her two grandchildren, Louis nad Lillian Holmes who had cared for her during her long illness; ten other grandchildren; harry B. Holmes, Westford, Mrs. Erma Snyder, Oneonta; Mrs. nina ramsey, Liberty; Morris Farrell, Deposit; Maurice Gardner, Edmeston; George Lesh, montrose, Pa.; Percy W. Holmes, Decatur; F. Prevost Holmes, Washington, D.C.; Wayne Holmes in the U.S. Army; Gertrude Vickey who lives in the south and several great grandchildren. She was a revered woman and a charter member of the Ladies' Aid society of the Baptist church, Westford until it was abandoned.
