HINTON - Ethel Mae Cooper, 85, of 1509 Summers St., died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, in Summers County A.R.H. Hospital following a long illness.

Born April 18, 1916, at Buck, she was the daughter of the late Houston and Etta Jane Garten Huffman.

Mrs. Cooper was a former employee of Keaton Cleaners and Laundry in Hinton, Davis Department Store in Hinton and the Sewing Basket. She was retired from Nu Way Cleaners in Hinton. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hinton, and had been a lifelong resident of Summers County.

She was preceded in death by one son, Jerry L. Cooper, in 1992; and an infant daughter, Carol Cooper.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Joe Cooper; one son, Densel Pack of Reno, Nev.; one daughter, Phyllis Cales of Gahanna, Ohio; one daughter-in-law, Charlene Cooper of Hinton; one niece, Onva Allen of Charlottesville, Va.; one nephew, Ray Huffman of Maryland; six grandchildren, including Brian and Cheryl Cooper; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel, Hinton, with Pastor Roy Lee Honaker Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Cooper Cemetery at Sandstone.

First marriage was to James W. Pack 1930 in Summers County.
