Rubv Lee Mitchell McKnight, age 78, was born December 28, 1933 in Houston. She entered into rest on Friday, January 6, 2012 in Houston. Ruby is reunited with her husband of 28 years, Alvin Dee McKnight, Sr.; parents, Ben Mitchell, Sr. and Susie Sibley Sharp; step parents, Catherine Mitchell and Maurice Whiddon; brother, Ben Mitchell, Jr. and a special niece, Anjeanette Mitchell. She is survived by three sons, Alvin Dee McKnight, Jr. and wife Joyce, Arthur Deen McKnight and wife Marissa and Allen David McKnight and wife Carol; daughter, Dawn Reneé McKnight Harrell; two sisters, Sharon Patek and spouse Wes Murphy and Frances Lee and husband Lesley; three brothers, Guy Mitchell and wife Frances, Roger Whiddon and wife Lynette and Frank Mitchell; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ruby was a member of Lazy Brook Baptist Church, Women of the Moose of Lodge 2107 and a dedicated employee at Breen's Florist, formerly Fisher Florist for 30 years. She will be remembered for her love of family, helping and feeding others. Ruby loved playing the organ, painting, dancing and through her positivity and determination, made everyone feel welcome and at home. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 10, 2012 from Noon-9:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Pat H. Foley & Company. She will be laid to rest at Memorial Oaks Cemetery. To defray expenses, the family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Dawn Harrell, 31110 Vickie Ln., Magnolia, TX 77354-5759
