Geneta H. Murphy, 74, of 210 Woodside Avenue, Hanover, died March 7, in her home.

Born March 3, 1924 in Wildcat, W.V., she was the daughter of the late Ralph Weice and Dorothea R. (Cowger) Godfrey. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Leroy Murphy Sr. She was predeceased by her first husband, Ralph L. Martin.

Mrs. Murphy was a member of Fraternal Order of the Eagles No. 1406, Hanover; and Women of the Moose No. 923, Hanover.

She was a licensed babysitter for many years, retiring in 1982.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Wanda L. Lighty in Hellam; and Vonda M. Altland of Hanover; one son, Ronnie L. Martin of Hanover; two stepdaughters, Joy Treadway of Hanover; and Malissa Murphy of Littlestown; one stepson, Ralph L. Murphy Jr. of New Oxford; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Frances L. Breazeal of Geneva, Fla.; Joy F. Pickens of Walkersville, W.V.; Carol G. Cool of Hanover; one brother, Delmer Ray Godfrey of Columbia, S.C.

Mrs. Murphy was predeceased by three brothers, Jollie Godfrey, Maurice Godfrey and Connen Godfrey.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 10 in Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle Street, Hanover, with the Orrin O. Orewiler officiating. Intermnt will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 9 in the funeral home.Daughter of Ralph and Dortha (Cowger) Godfrey
