Walter S. Veite, a brakeman on the B. & O. Railroad was killed when the caboose he was riding in at Rochester,New York,was rammed into a string of parked freight cars.The accident happened when the railroad crew was returning to the roundhouse from the night shift when two locomotives pushed the caboose through an open switch and into the parked cars at about 15 miles per hour.
Walter was a son of James E. & Mary Jane Broadhead Veite and a life long resident of Anita. He was a brother of these named surviving siblings:
~ Mrs. Paul [Bessie] Boucher of Anita;
~ Mrs. William F.[Elizabeth] Minson of Arlington,Virginia.
He was married to the former Mary N. Humble[his wife's name is not given in his obituary but is found later in their son,Larry's obitaury.]
They were the parents of these named children:
~ James Veite,
~ Larry Veite;
~ Mayre Elizabeth Veite.
