MRS. CYNTHIA GRIGSBY CORNETT

Cynthia Grigsby, daughter of John and Martha Grigsby, was born on Lotts Creek, this county in February, 1926. Her parents were among the most highly esteemed citizens of this county at that time, and early taught her the lessons of virtue and uprightness. At the age of 19 she was married to Elijah C. Cornett, which whom she lived in unbroken happiness and trust for sixty-six years. To this union were born eleven children - five boys and six girls- as follows; Jennie Newberry, Daniel Cornett, Celia Davis, Benj. F. Cornett, Wm. G. Cornett, Nancy Morgan, Elhannon Cornett, Isabell Feltner, Elvira Bowman, Matt Cornett and Martha Montgomery, all of whom survive her, together with her lagged husband and one sister, Mrs. Sallie Wooton, and one brother, Samuel Grigsby at Ten Mile, KY.

Of Mrs. Cornett it may be said that she was dutiful wife, a loving mother, a kind neighbor and a quiet but earnest believer in God. Her kindness won for her many friends and it is said that in all the country round about she had not a single enemy. During the last several years of her life she was a constant sufferer, having been attacked by a dreadful disease, which finally caused her death. But in all her suffering she displayed wonderful fortitude and bore her suffering with true Christian patience. She passed from pain to pleasure, from labor to reward, from this life below to life more abundant above on the morning of the 14th of November, 1911, and was buried in the family burying ground - a beautiful little knoll near the Cornett Hill school house.

May He who tempers the wind to the shorn lamb comfort the hearts of the grief stricken, husband and children in this hour of sadness and at last gather them all, an unbroken family, unto Himself in the better land.
