OPAL LUCILLE REAM ANSPACH

Opal Lucille Ream Anspach, 99, died at 10:30 a.m. March 30, 2008, at Hardin Hills Health Center, Kenton.

She was born Aug. 30, 1908, in Allen County to Elihu S. and M. Chloe Stover Ream, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 6, 1941, she married Staff Sgt. Otis Leroy Anspach, who died March 31, 1974.

Mrs. Anspach was a schoolteacher and her first school was a one-room country school. She was a fourth-grade teacher for 10 years at Allen East schools before her retirement. She also worked at Auto Lite in Toledo, Westinghouse in Lima during World War II, and Oldaker Manufacturing Co. in Dunkirk. She was also a homemaker. She was a 1926 graduate of Bluffton High School and a 1931 graduate of Ohio Northern University with a degree in education. She was a past member of the ONU Women, Ada Business and Professional Women, Hardin County Extension Club, and the Ada Heritage Women's Club. She was also a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Ada Senior Citizens, Liberty Grange for 60-plus years, the Hardin County Retired Teachers Association, and the Kenton Genealogy Club. She began attending the Bethel Church of Christ in 1916 and continued throughout her life.

Survivors include two sons, Dan (Galina) Anspach, of Ada, and Jere (Kym) Anspach of Lakeview; two grandchildren, Svetlana Galuchenko and Stefanie Ketcham; three great-grandchildren, Galina Galuchenko, Casey Ketcham and Cole Ketcham; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, Marjorie Gaiffe, Alice Clark, Verda Pifer, Hazel Steward and Genevieve Amey; and a grandson, William Roy Anspach, who died in 1990.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home. The Rev. Harrison Underwood will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and until the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Instead of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Bethel Church of Christ Building Fund or the Hardin Hill Health Center Activity Fund.
