Karl C. Knauf, 60, of Chilton, passed away peacefully at St. Nicholas Hospital on Saturday, January 7, 2012, with his loving family at his side, following a long struggle with emphysema.

Karl was born July 17, 1951 in Sheboygan to Edmund Reiss Knauf and Mary Testwuide Knauf. Following graduation from Sheboygan North High School, Class of 1969 he furthered his education at Whitewater University.

Karl was employed at the K.W. Muth Co. later Lear Corp. until illness forced his early retirement. He also worked as a bartender at Gino's Top of the First and later City Streets.

He met the love of his life, Stephanie Becker, while working at K.W. Muth Co. and was united with her in marriage on June 11, 1988 at St. Mark Lutheran Church.

Mr. Knauf was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church.

Karl enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing, attending family sporting events, and was an avid collector of just about everything. He took pride in his skills as a photographer, especially sunset photos. Over the years Karl shared a bond with many of his pet dogs and cats.

In addition to his wife, Stephanie, Karl is survived by, two children, Karl C. "Cully" Knauf Jr., Kristine E. "Krisy" Knauf; two step-children, David R. Hansen and Dawn M. Lewis all of Chilton; two grandchildren, Mason A. Lewis and Ellie M. Lewis; two brothers, Edmund (Barbara) Knauf of Sheboygan, Steve (Mary Jo) Knauf of Mequon; a sister, Barbara Kowalsky of Denver, CO; and other family members and friends.

Karl was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11:00 A.M. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1019 N. 7th St., Sheboygan. Rev. Joe Cottam, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will take place in Schleswig Cemetery, Kiel, WI.
