The Oklahoman published June 6, 2004:
Jack Cartlich Tway passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 2, 2004 after a valiant struggle against a long illness. The youngest son of the late Lora Collier and Robert Raymond Tway, Jack was born December 19, 1926, in Oklahoma City. He graduated valedictorian from Classen High School, and served in the Navy until the end of WWII.

In 1948 he received a B.A. in history from Union College in Schenectedy, N.Y. where he later established the Joseph D. Doty Prize in the name of his favorite professor. Although Jack had planned to continue his education and obtain a law degree, he was called home after the premature death of his elder brother to take over the family construction business.

He became a very active member of the business community and a patron of the arts and education: President of R.R. Tway, Inc., past national President of the Contractors Division of the America Road & Transportation Builders Association; past President of the Oklahoma Chapter of the Associated General Contractors; lifetime Member of the Board of Directors of the National Associated General Contractors of America; longtime member of the Board of Directors of Casady School, Liberty Bank, and Nichols Hills Bank; past President of the Oklahoma Symphony Society and Chairman of the Oklahoma City Opera Guild; longtime member of Phi Beta Kappa, the Rotary Club, the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club, the Alliance Francaise, the Confrerie de la Chaine des Rotisseurs, the Young Presidents Organization and later, the World Business Council.

In addition to being an active businessman, a firm believer in his community, and a supportive father and husband, Jack was an avid world traveler. At age 70, he and his wife Phyllis took to the winds and spent 18 months in France. Jack was known for his generosity, loyalty and good-humored strength in times of adversity. He will be sorely missed by his family.

Surviving him are his wife, Phyllis Ann Tway and their daughter, Ashley Martin of Edmond, her husband Philippe, and their children, Nicolas and Sean; his son, Jack Jr. of OKC, his wife Melodee, and their son, John Christopher; his daughter, Elizabeth Auchincloss of Santa Barbara, CA; his daughter, Kathy Tatikian of Palos Verdes, CA, and her daughters, Christina Rice and Suzanne; his sister, Betty Gene Tway of Jacksonville, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Lucille Herndon, his brother Robert Raymond Tway, Jr., and his infant daughter Lora. The family wants to thank all of those who stood by him and cared for him through these difficult times both friends and the wonderful nurses and caregivers of Good Shepherd Hospice.

Services will be held at All Souls Episcopal Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 8. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to All Souls. Services under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home. Matthews Funeral Home
