WILLIAM J. BORDERS SR., 85, of Fort Wayne, died on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at his residence. Born April 8, 1926, in Morral, Ohio. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He retired as Regional sales manager from Philip Morris after 37 years of service. He enjoyed camping, sailing and spending time with his family. He was a member of Forest Park United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 47; charter member and past president of Toastmasters Early Birds; and a Kentucky Colonel; member of and the 30+ Club at Philip Morris. Surviving are his wife, Leona M.; daughters, Deb (Gary) Wells and Amy (Bret) Angel, both of Fort Wayne; sons, William (Joanie) Borders of Fort Wayne and Bree (Phyllis) Borders of Coldwater, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road. The Rev. Brenda Ginder officiating. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery.
