FUNERAL SET FOR MRS. J. D. YOUNG
Following a month's illness, Mrs. J. D. Young, who had lived in Stockton since 1889, when she came from Missouri as a bride, died at her home yesterday. A semi-invalid for a number of years, her store of experiences, services and friendships maintained her through the trying period.
Dr. Young, her late husband, on first coming to Stockton was associated with her cousins, Dr. S. W. R. Langdon and Dr. Walter Langdon, and was later appointed to the resident medical staff of Stockton State Hospital, where the home was an attractive center for a wide circle of friends. Since Dr. Young's death in 1917, the home has been at 400 West Flora Street.
Mrs. Young's main interest outside her home was in activities of St. John's Episcopal Church. She was a past regent of El Toyon Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of Sterling Price Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy.
Episcopalian funeral services will be conducted privately tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home by the Rev. Seth C. Hawley, rector of St. Johns's Church, and Bishop L. C. Sanford of Fresno. Internment will be in Rural Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be F. N. Vail, Dr. Barton Powell, Sr., Russell Springer, Percy Cleghorn, Frank S. Gaines of Berkeley and Dr. George Sanderson.
Surviving relatives are five daughters, Miss Eleanor Young, Celeste Young Cary, Julia Young Cruikshank, June Young Stephens, and Edward Young; seven grandchildren; a sister, Annie Roberts Hodgdon of Hannibal, Mo., and a brother, G. Porter Roberts of Stockton. Dr. S. W. R. Langdon, Mrs Harry Cory Marsh and Mrs. Frank S. Boggs of Stockton and Dorsey Ewing of Sacramento are cousins.
