Ira D. Stroup, 52, of Franconia, N.H., and formerly of Cumberland, died yesterday at the Veterans Administration Hospital, White River Junction, Vt., where he had undergone surgery last week. Born in Ellerslie, he was a son of the late George and Grace (Stahlman) Stroup.
A graduate of Allegany High School, he served as an officer in the Air Force in Italy during World War II and graduated from Washington-Jefferson College and until last year had owned and operated the Horse and Hound Inn in Franconia. Surviving are his widow, Angela (Ruppert) Stroup, formerly of Cumberland; four daughters, Mary Beth, Martha, Jane and Kathy Stroup, and a son George Stroup, all of Franconia; three brothers, Junior Stroup, Severna Park; Glenn Stroup, Essex, and Fay Stroup, Baltimore; three sisters, Mrs. Raymond Easton, city; Mrs. William Stewart, Keyser, and Mrs. Urner Carl, LaVale.
The body is at the Ross Funeral Home, in Littleton, N.H., where a service will be conducted Monday at 11 am. Interment will be in Littleton.
