PAULSON, Victor Leonard
Son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Paulson (deceased), passed away at his home in Kona, Hawaii on June 13, 2004. He was preceded in death by his wife Norma (Schaffer) Paulson. Vic was born November 1, 1923 in Wildrose, North Dakota. At the age of one he moved with his family to Santa Barbara, where he attended Harding Grammar School, La Cumbre Jr. High, Santa Barbara High School and Santa Barbara State College.
In 1942 Vic joined the Army Air Corp., and as Lieutenant, flew B-17 bombers with the 388th Bomb Group out of England.
Excelling in all sports, Vic was drafted by the Washington Redskins upon his graduation from U.C.S.B. in 1947. He continued his education at Oregon University and U.S.C., where he received his masters in education. His teaching and coaching career included Coalinga High, Ventura Jr. College and Chino High, from where he retired as principal. Following his retirement, Vic and his family operated garden nurseries in Buellton and Lompoc.
He is survived by his son Victor S. Paulson (Lonnie) of Kona, Hawaii; daughter Terry Nielsen (Dan) of Solvang; sister Mollie Thrower (Freddy) of Ventura; brother Bernard Paulson (Jean) and sister Priscilla Reid (Chuck) of Santa Barbara; grandchildren Kairi Tabaco (Erwin) of Hawaii, Dusty Nielsen of Solvang, Toby Paulson (Amy) of Ohio and Noe Paulson of Kona. He is also survived by his eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Private interment was at the Santa Barbara Cemetery on July 1. Memorials to your favorite charity.
