Austin Jacobs, age 84, a Two Rivers resident, died Sunday evening, Dec. 28, 2003 at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003 at Klein & Stangel Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Tom Wojciechoski, O.F.M. with burial at Holy Cross cemetery, Two Rivers. Graveside military rites will be accorded by the VFW/American Legion Post of Two Rivers.

Austin was born July 25, 1919, in Jack, Ala., son of the late Thomas and Caddie Johnson Jacobs. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II where he met Marion, his wife, while a patient during his tour of service. On Oct. 26, 1946, Austin married Marion Weber in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on July 17, 1995. He was employed with Washington High School, Two Rivers, from 1967 until his retirement in 1982. Austin was a member of the VFW Post of Two Rivers.

Survivors include one son: Joseph E. Jacobs, Two Rivers; two daughters and sons-in-law: Julie and Gary Yanda, Two Rivers; Jody and James Bachmann, Whitelaw; seven grandchildren: (private); five great-grandchildren: (private); one sister, Pearl Adams, Alabama; a sister-in-law; Grace Jacobs, Alabama; a special family friend: Elaine Kvitek, Two Rivers; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

He was also preceded in death by two sons; Jeffrey and John; two brothers: Cicero and Hardy; two sisters: Lois and Ruth.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003 at Klein & Stangel Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Two Rivers, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1:30 p.m.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Tower 1 at St. Mary's Home and third floor ICU at Aurora Medical Center for the care they extended to Austin.
