Son of Iva and Ed McGREGOR, Hugh D. McGregor was owner of Mac's Radio Shop and the Ritz Theater in Arcola IL and other businesses in Oakland IL. He was not yet 52 when he died of a brief illness following a heart attack. He and wife Lois lived in Terre Haute IN when Virginia L.(Bartholomew), Velma I.(Cox) and Dale E., and Don M. were born, but moved to Arcola IL where Verdine C.(Allen) was born. His 3 brothers were Earl, of rural Oakland IL, Lawrence and Dwight of TerreHaute IN, and sisters Mrs.Clara Hill of Cayuga, IN, and Mrs. Fern Jones of TerreHaute, and he had 13 granchildren at his death but many more born later. He served on the Arcola school board, and was a volunteer fireman (the excess smoke contributed to the heart attack). Hugh died about 2 a.m. on March 12,1955. Lois, their dau. Verdine (Mrs. Cecil Allen), and a daughter in law, Dale's Jean Parrish McGregor, are buried nearby, as is Virginia. Velma is buried in Montana, Dale and Don M. in Texas.
