Clay Anlauf of Anlauf, OR. who died Jan. 11 of age-related causes. He was 82. He was born June 6, 1921, in Anlauf to Clarence and Grace Brown Anlauf. He and his wife, Barbara Lercher Anlauf, were married in Seattle on Aug. 7, 1969. He attended school in Curtin and spent four years with the Navy, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He worked as a logger and ran a logging company, Anlauf Logging, with his brother, Robert. He enjoyed photography, rock hunting, making jewelry, going on nature drives, hunting, fishing, and metal detecting. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mike of Cottage Grove and Mark of Mukilteo, WA; a daughter, Karen Koch of Cottage Grove; three sisters, Gloria Kirtley of Yreka, CA, and Pat Brookhart and Joyce Vaughn, both of Roseburg; and six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. A brother, Robert, a son, Pat, and a foster granddaughter, Schantella Carter of Seattle, died previously. Arrangements by Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel, Cottage Grove, OR.
