William Huffman was the son of Joseph Huffman and Susannah Brady. William was married to Catherine Keller, daughter of Peter and Madeline Shertz Keller.

William Hoffman was a Civil War Veteran- He enlisted on 10/16/1861 when he was only 16 years old sreving as a private in Company B, of the 63rd Ohio Infantry Regiment until discharged on July 8th, 1865.The 63rd Regiment saw a lot of action over the course of civil war. Record of their service taken from Dyer's Compendium was as follows:

January 25, 1862: 63rd Regiment Infantry. Organized at Marietta, Ohio, by consolidation of Battalions of the 22nd and 63rd Ohio Infantry.
