HENDERSON -- Lucy Page Rhoads Villines, 90, of Henderson, daughter of the late James and Ruby Page, was graciously welcomed home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the morning of October 10, 2005.

She was born on December 19, 1914, in Ballard County, Kentucky, where she was raised.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lee Allen Rhoads, who died in 1976; her second husband, Chester Lee Villines, who died in 1997; and one grandson, Scott Rhoads, who died in 1998.

She was blessed with four children, Lee Allen Rhoads Jr. of Huntsville, Alabama, Jerry Page Rhoads and Thomas M. Rhoads, both of Madisonville, and Philip S. Rhoads of Washington, D.C.; seven grandchildren, Jenny, Jordan, Brad, Chris, Leigh, Eliza, and Celia Rhoads; nine great-grandchildren; and one niece and four nephews

She had been an active member of Immanuel Baptist Temple since 1939, having served as church organist for 30 years and Sunday school teacher. She was past Worthy Grand Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, lifetime member of the board of the Salvation Army and piano and organ teacher for 25 years.

She leaves a Lord-honoring legacy as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, musician, teacher, writer and poet. She inspired others to remain thankful and place complete faith in God. She persevered through two back surgeries at age 86 and returned to diligent Christian service for four additional years.

At age 90, she continued to play the piano, participate in water aerobics three times a week, e-mail friends and family, work on her autobiography, visit with friends, write poetry and minister as pianist in the kitchen band that she organized (which continues to bring joy to seniors in nursing homes and other health care facilities). She loved her family and was extremely proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In her final days, she visited family and friends, gave advice, remained thankful and stood firm in her faith.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel Baptist Temple. Dr. R. Joseph Tricquet Jr. and Dr. Walter Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home, and after 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Immanuel Baptist Temple, 540 Second Street, Henderson, Kentucky 42420.
