BARNETT, Walter William, (''Buddy"), 69, of Blacksburg, died Monday, May 12, 1997, at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

He was born in McCoy, Va. on May 13, 1927, to Charles William "Bill" and Margie Vaught Barnett.

He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Linkous Barnett; a son and daughter-in-law, William Dale and Deborah Barnett, Richmond; his mother, Margie Vaught Barnett of Shawsville; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret B. and Archie Smith, Pembroke, Betty Ruth and Junior Snider, and Margie Katherine Nolen, all of Christiansburg; a brother and sister-in-law, Howard E. and Louise Barnett, Pembroke; and his mother-in-law, Leathie Linkous, Shawsville; and many friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 14, 1997, at 2 p.m. in the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Jerry Sloss and the Rev. Phillip Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
