GRANVILLE - Blaine W. Clancy, 79, of Granville, Ill., passed away at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006, at St Margaret's Hospital in Spring Valley, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4th 2006, in the First Lutheran Church in Granville, Ill. Dr. Roger Helgren will officiate. Burial will be in the Granville Cemetery, with full Military Honors. Visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 3rd 2006, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Helmer-Shields Funeral Home in Granvillle, Ill.
Mr. Clancy was born Jan. 21st 1927, in Red Mound, Wis., to Thomas E. and Rosanna Marie (Johnston) Clancy. He married Bessie Stratton on Jan. 31st 1946, in Ottawa, Ill.
Mr. Clancy served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947 and retired from Burlington Northern Railroad in 1989 after 47 years. He was a Granville Township officer for 30 years and served as the Township Supervisor for the past 15 years. He served as a Putnam County Board Member from 1994 to present, former Granville Village Trustee and Building Inspector and served 20 years as a Granville Firefighter and Fire Chief.
Mr. Clancy was nominated for the Ageless Achievers Award in 2002 and received Service Above Self Award from the Rotary Club in 2001.
Mr. Clancy is survived by a daughter, Sheila (Bill) Haage of Granville, Ill.; a son, Randy (Sharon) Clancy of Puyallup, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Clancy was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie in 2000; three brothers; and one sister in infancy.
Memorials may be directed to the Putnam County Food Pantry or the First Lutheran Church in Granville, Ill.
