Joseph Clarence Ackerman
Joseph Clarence Ackerman, 54, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. He was a resident of Brown County.
He was born Nov. 1, 1949, in Franklin. His parents were John Robert and Beulah M. (Smith) Ackerman. He married Donna M. (Jones) Ackerman on Feb. 21, 1992, in Virginia. She survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Dana Hurd of Columbus, Danielle Arnold of Martinsville and Sarah Ackerman of Nineveh; three brothers, John David, Timothy Luther and James Robert Ackerman, all of Brown County; a sister, Linda R. Williamson of Lebanon; and four grandchildren.
He graduated from Brown County High School and attended Miami Dade junior college for two years and Indiana University for one year.
He owned and operated Joe's Tobacco and Convenience Store in Martinsville for nine years.
He was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Brown County, Blue Lodge in Indianapolis, Shriners and Murat Temple and was a 32nd-degree Mason. His hobbies included horseback riding.
He served with the Indiana National Guard at the Southside Armory as a specialist fourth class.
The Rev. Jim Hollquist will conduct a service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Nebo Memorial Park in Martinsville.
