James Funk, aged 84, of Holbrook, R. D. 1, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Thomas A. Burge, 247 North Porter street, Waynesburg, at 9 a.m. yesterday, December 3, 1940. Although he had been in poor health for five years, the deceased was seriously ill only one week. Death was caused by complications.
A son of the late J. S. and Margaret Craft Funk, the deceased was born in Greene County on October 22, 1856. Most of his life was spent near Rutan. He married Ella Jacobs 50 years ago, and she survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Irene Burge, of Waynesburg; a son, Glenn, of Washington; six grandchildren, and two brothers, George Funk, of Rogersville, and W. L. Funk, of Graysville, R. D.
